Exercises in Continuing

These are all from real sources of one kind or another, but what really comes next doesn't matter in this context -- it's just about practicing continuity.

Exercise 1:

The old lady pulled her spectacles down and looked over them about the room.

• Try another sentence using "the old lady" (or a synonym or pronoun).
• Try a second sentence using "spectacles"
• Try one using "room"

Exercise 2:

The Lion was so tickled at the idea of the Mouse being able to help him, that he lifted up his paw and let him go.

Perhaps you recognize this story. Try to continue this using one of the suggestions for continuity.

Exercise 3:

Two pirates were reunited after many years of terrorizing the high seas.

Try to think of a next sentence, then you can look. (HINT: it's a joke.....)
