Lesson 2 -- Review of Paragraph Structure

Summary:

  • Though some formal teaching can be valuable, the key to writing well is reading excellent things, thinking well, and paying attention to expressing your thoughts as well as you can.
  • We are starting with paragraphs since in some ways they are like miniature versions of compositions.
  • Some Qualities of a Paragraph are unity, continuity, variety, and proportion.
  • To illustrate the balance of unity and continuity in real writing, we took two Examples of Paragraphs.
